Nokia Estimated to Have Shipped Up to 4 Million Nokia N8 Smartphones

Nokia is estimated to have shipped somewhere in the range of 3.5 - 4 million of its flagship Nokia N8 smartphone, according to analysis by Inderes Oy. Nokia had said last Novemeber that it had received the highest level of pre-sale orders in its history for the new phone, but didn't offer any concrete figures at the time.

The research is based on correlations between the number of people looking for information about a specific phone on website search engines, and their subsequent sales. If Inderes' analysis is correct, then the company would have shipped up to 4 million in the three months since its launch last October.

According to their analysis, the highest search volumes over competitors N8 may be in India, Finland, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. They note that the strong performance in India is interesting as the Apple iPhone has not sold well in that country, where Nokia still retains a considerable market lead over its rivals.
